Emptied Pockets - Performance Lab 1.5 (2007)

ContactSheet-001

Emptied Pockets was a collaborative performance that took place on October 24th 2007 during Daniel Moore’s Performance Lab 1.5 (also referred to as PLab 1.5) at the Tampa Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI). The event featured a number of performances, video projections and collaborations between artists and spectators. For "Emptied Pockets," Moore and I asked the PLab 1.5 audience to spill the contents of their pockets and purses out on to small covered table in order to be documented. The finished product is a collection of 45 images featuring the subject’s hands and pocket/purse contents. There was a great variety in the types of objects photographed. Some were to be expected; cell phones, wallets, and keys. Others were less common and at times quite surprising such as in the case of a partially eaten chicken patty and a very worn pocket Bible.
