The Best Memories I Never Had is a series of images that consists of old family snapshots that were made in the years following the death of my father. The images no longer serve their original function as a reminder of a birthday party or Christmas morning, as I have changed the images by inserting my present day self into these snapshots. By doing so, I have visually placed myself into the role of my father that I lost before I could remember. Placed in to these situations it’s as though I am teaching myself how to be the man I would someday become. The images appear to mimic ideal sincerity as each of them represents a new but fictitious memory of a relationship that never had a chance to exist.
