Using flyers, craigslist ads and word of mouth I was able to gather more than 150 different people to create these composite portraits of masculinity and femininity. I felt like a photographic Dr. Frankenstein as I gathered samples from each body I photographed. I used each volunteer only once, randomly photographing a small area of their body then digitally contorting it to fit to the next. I intentionally left the fractured seams across their new bodies as scars from my process.
The prints are 36" x 72" and are mounted into coffin like lightboxes. They are now part of the private collection of Mr. Robert F. Welker.
